Mersey Branch AGM 2018

For those new to the Union, it’s YOU, our members, that get the chance to determine your representatives and help determine the Union’s priorities for the coming year. We do this by holding an Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM does have some formal business to attend to, but over the years, we’ve made the AGM more of an opportunity to socialise and it’s fair to say that nearly everyone who attends joins in with the debate and gets an opportunity to discuss the things that are important to them both in and out of the workplace. We’ll be keeping the traditional quiz (with prizes), so brush up on your general knowledge before you come if you’re looking to win!

We have changed venue to the Radisson Hotel immediately opposite BT’s Lancaster House on Old Hall Street, Liverpool which we hope the increasing numbers of people in Lancaster House will find easy to get to! It’s still only a short walk or cab ride for those of you travelling in from out of town. The Branch will consider assistance with transport costs for travel from outside the city centre boundary and/or child minding fees for any member.

We are keen to make the AGM as much an opportunity to socialise as it is an opportunity to debate the issues of the day so a generous buffet dinner and refreshments (including alcohol), will be available free of charge after the main business of the meeting is complete, it should all make for a very entertaining evening!

Further details will follow but for the time being, but if you want to make a date in your diary…

  • 11th January 2018 – Formal notification of the Branch AGM and a call for Policy Issues and Nominations for Branch Positions (this newsletter!)
  • 1st February 2018 – Closing date for Policy Issues and Nominations
  • 5th February 2018 – Special Branch Meeting at 6.00pm to determine policy issues to go forward to CWU Annual Conference in April.
  • 22nd February 2018 – Final AGM Agenda, Annual Report, Policy Issues and Branch Election Results published
  • 8th MARCH 2018 BRANCH AGM FROM 6PM AT THE RADISSON HOTEL IN LIVERPOOL CITY CENTRE (Old Hall Street, L3 9PY).

This is YOUR chance to determine how your union deals with the challenges ahead as YOU see them.
Whatever your reasons for coming, and whoever you work for, all branch members are encouraged to attend and will be made very welcome.

Thanks for reading – I really look forward to seeing you there.
