John Williams Retires creating vacancy for new CWU Rep in BT Warrington Contact Centre

The Branch’s long standing Workplace Representative, John Williams has announced that he will be retiring at the end of August 2016.
John has been a BT employee for forty years, fulfilling more roles than he cares to remember and   during this time he has always been an active member of the CWU. Most of you will know John as our Health and Safety Rep and as our Workplace Representative in Warrington Call Centre handling all the regular work that comes our way on a day to day basis.
On behalf of everyone involved with the Mersey Branch we pass on our heartfelt thanks to John for his hard work and we wish him a relaxing and well deserved retirement.

As John is moving on this does create a vacancy for a part time Union Representative in Warrington Call Centre and we are looking to identify John’s replacement in the coming weeks before his retirement.
If you are interested in this role then you must be a current CWU member and a BT employee. The role of a workplace Rep is very varied, primarily however it is to assist and support CWU members with workplace issues, in both formal hearings and with informal enquiries and to be able to liaise effectively with local management.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, preferably with at least a years’ experience of working for BT and if you have previous experience   working for a Trade Union then all the better, but it’s not mandatory as you will receive training and support in the role. The most important attribute though is that you want to represent your fellow CWU member.
If you are interested in this role and would like more information then please get in touch with James Samuels, Branch Chair: james@cwumersey.org or 07885186121
