CWU – TUC Decent Jobs Week – 15-21 Dec 2014

Millions of people in the UK are trapped in low paid, insecure jobs. There are more than 1.4 million zero-hours contracts in use offering no steady work. Others, such as agency and casual workers, lose out on important rights and benefits.

In December the TUC is organising a week of campaign activities calling for an end to the growth in casualisation and the exploitation of zero-hours contract workers, agency workers, those on short-hours contracts and others forms of insecure work.

Decent Jobs Week will run from 15 to 21 December 2014. Core to the week will be a series of regional events taking place across the country.  It is also hoped the week will provide a platform for union campaigns on casualisation.

The TUC has developing web pages which will contain more information about the week, and details of regional events.  This can be found at: HERE.  Please note, that information about local activities will be regularly updated on the website, but we understand there will be an event in Liverpool City Centre on Tuesday 16th December which the CWU will be supporting.

The CWU are supporting the week of campaigning by organising events at four key BT Contact Centres:-

  • Accrington
  • Doncaster
  • Gosforth
  • Warrington.

Dates for the event in Warrington have yet to be determined.  Keep visiting our site for further information and if you would like to help by getting involved in the lead up to the event, please get in touch.
